Fail-safe switching for mission-critical network control systems

The Nemesis CNS Control Network Switch enables seamless, rapid switching between preset network states in a robust gigabyte  Level 2 switch. Easily select between two independent preset configurations via front panel button, OSC command, or GPI trigger.

Whether you're managing a live show, installation, or broadcast environment, the CNS Control Network Switch delivers powerful, fail-safe network control you can trust.

The Nemesis CNS is designed to offer 4 versatile operating modes, enabling seamless integration into any redundant or mission-critical network environment. In Unmanaged Mode, all four Ethernet ports remain fully active, allowing data to flow freely between connected devices without restrictions. This mode is ideal for straightforward setups where maximum connectivity and ease of communication are required.

For more complex dual redundant configurations, the CNS provides Fully Isolated Mode and Semi-Isolated Mode to manage network traffic with precision. In Fully Isolated Mode, one port is completely blocked from all network communication, effectively isolating it to allow safe switching between two computers or systems without interference. This is particularly useful in scenarios where two systems need to operate independently and be swapped without cross-traffic.

In contrast, Semi-Isolated Mode offers a middle ground: the isolated port can still receive and respond to data but is prevented from transmitting information to the wider network. This mode ensures a level of responsiveness while maintaining control over data flow, reducing the risk of unwanted network exposure.

The VLAN Patch Mode is a powerful feature for users requiring granular control over their network traffic. It allows the CNS to switch between two fully customisable VLAN configurations. This capability is especially valuable when managing communication and routing between specific devices such as QLab systems, where precise VLAN management can optimise performance and security.

To enhance operational clarity, the CNS front panel is thoughtfully designed with clear indicators. Each Ethernet port (NET 1–4) has its own LED that displays real-time network activity, allowing users to quickly assess the status of individual connections. The status of the dual redundant power supplies is similarly monitored via dedicated PSU indicators, ensuring continuous power integrity.

Additionally, a NET status light provides immediate feedback on overall network connectivity, while an ERR indicator warns users of any critical issues such as network disconnections or power failures. These visual cues enable quick troubleshooting and maintain operational confidence in mission-critical deployments.

Four  Operational Modes:

  • Unmanaged Mode:

    • All four Ethernet ports active with free data flow. Buttons inactive

  • Fully Isolated Mode:

    • Preset A takes Port 2 completely offline - blocked from all network traffic

    • Preset B takes Port 1 completely offline - blocked from all network traffic

  • Semi-Isolated Mode:

    • Preset A allows Port 2 to receive / respond but not transmit to other ports

    • Preset B allows Port 1 to receive / respond but not transmit to other ports

  • V-LAN Patch Mode:

    • Each port has 2 fully customisable V-LAN patches, switches all 4 ports between Preset A and Preset B

Front Panel Status Indicators:

  • Individual NET 1–4 activity LEDs

  • Dual redundant power supply status indicators

  • Central NET status light for connectivity

  • ERR indicator for errors such as disconnections or power faults
